Men's Health  •  November 1 - 30

Grow a Mo. Start a conversation. Take care of you.

All November long, we're inviting Mushkegowuk men to grow a mustache, take on a weekly photo challenge, and learn more about men's health. Every weekly progress photo you post and submit with a weekly quiz earns you an entry into our draw for a $250 gift card and a Bluetti power station!

Post your clean-shaven "before" photo in Week 1 to register, keep growing all month, and share your Final Mo on November 30. A new men's health trivia quiz is released each week of the challenge.

Each weekly progress photo + completed quiz = 1 entry in the draw.
Tag #MushkegowukMovember and @MushHealth so we can find your post!

MEN'S HEALTH: KNOW THE FACTS

Risk factors & prevention: Commercial tobacco, inactivity, heavy drinking, unhealthy eating, and skipping check-ups raise the risk of many diseases. Aim for 150 minutes of activity a week and see your health provider regularly, even when you feel fine.

Mental health: Men are less likely to talk about their feelings or ask for help. Watch for anger, pulling away, poor sleep, or drinking more. Support is available 24/7: Hope for Wellness Help Line 1-855-242-3310.

Diabetes: First Nations people are 3 to 5 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes. Staying active, eating traditional and whole foods, and regular blood sugar checks can help prevent or delay it.

Prostate cancer: About 1 in 8 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Talk to your health provider about testing starting around age 50, or earlier if it runs in your family.

Testicular cancer: Most common in younger men, and very treatable when found early. About 97% of men survive at least 5 years. Check yourself monthly and report any lump, swelling, or heaviness.

About the Challenge

#MushkegowukMovember is a month-long social media challenge from Mushkegowuk Health to raise awareness about men's health, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, diabetes, and mental health.

Growing a Mo is a fun way to start conversations that matter. We hope you'll join us, and encourage the men in your life to take care of their health, too!
