WINTER 2024 MOC WALK CHALLENGE

About the Challenge

Mushkegowuk Health is excited to announce the Winter 2024 Moc Walk Challenge! The Moc Walk Challenge is a free-to-join initiative that aims to increase diabetes awareness and support regular physical activity amongst Mushkegowuk community members and their families. This event is an opportunity for you to get active and have fun, while taking steps towards a healthier lifestyle. We hope you'll join us!

Why should I participate?

Moving more, eating healthier, and smoking less are proven ways to lower your risk for diabetes. For many people, type 2 diabetes can be delayed or even prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle, and if you're already living with diabetes, these same changes can make managing your condition easier.

Over the course of the Moc Walk Challenge, participants will be required to record and submit their weekly steps. Keeping track of your activity will allow you to look back on your progress over time, and it gives us the opportunity to hold you accountable. You will also have the chance of winning some great prizes!

How do I participate?

To participate in the Winter 2024 Moc Walk Challenge, please complete the registration form by 11:59 PM January 14th, 2024.

The Winter 2024 Moc Walk Challenge will run for six (6) weeks, from Monday, January 15th - Sunday, February 25th. Participants will be required to submit their steps weekly to qualify for the final prize draws. To accommodate varying activity levels, there WILL NOT be a weekly step requirement, but there will be a minimum total step requirement for the entire challenge. We will tally your steps over the course of the Moc Walk Challenge, and prizes will be drawn according to a tiered system. The more steps completed, the bigger the prize available to be won. The tiers are as follows:

TIER THREE: a minimum of 210,000 cumulative steps (an average of 5,000 steps per day)
TIER TWO: a minimum of 315,000 cumulative steps (an average of 7,500 steps per day)
TIER ONE: a minimum of 420,000 cumulative steps (an average of 10,000 steps per day)

S
et a goal that is realistic for yourself and work up from there.

How else can I win?

Every week during the Moc Walk, you will have the opportunity to participate in a weekly challenge. At the end of each week, a winner will be drawn from the participants of that week's challenge.
